This has been one heck of a whirlwind year for this special senior. Back in the summer of ’19 Caitlinn was crowned Miss Macon County Fair Queen, and she has been going going going ever since. She’s had a blast appearing at a multitude of events, and some highlights include Night to Shine, Honor Flight fundraiser, and the Backyard Wiffleball Tournament for Alzheimer’s Assoc. The platform she choose as Queen is very fitting: Kindness (see photo holding glass). To support her kindness platform, Caitlinn painted hundreds of rocks with supportive and encouraging phrases and hidden them around the community for people to find. She also collected multiple pounds of plastic caps to be recycled into a park bench (see photo throwing caps in air). Caitlinn’s Queen crown is only one of the hats this busy gal wears. She’s also a cheerleader at Decatur Christian School, member of Student Council, Soul Purpose Worship Team, and works at Filippo’s restaurant. Caitlinn was selected as a young leader and participated in the Community Foundation of Macon County’s YLIA group. She chose MRI as her philanthropy recipient and donated funds to purchase supplies for their art program. Wow! Just writing all the above activities makes me tired. However, I don’t think she’s going to slow down as she plans to attend Richland Community College next fall and attend beauty school. She, like most seniors, was sad that her high school years came to such an abrupt end with the Covid crisis. But this positive and bright spirited girl wrote to me her favorite Dr. Suess quote, “Don’t cry because it’s over but Smile because it happened.” That just sums up Caitlinn. Godspeed to you!
