Emma, Class of 2020

Emma is Exceptional, Energetic, Elevated, Earnest, Easy going and Endearing. Please Excuse my Effusive Explanation, but she truly is EXTRA! She’s been a power player for the Mt. Zion HS Girls Basketball team, scoring 1,000 career points during her senior season, averaging 12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals per game.  Her coach was quoted in the Herald and Review as saying “She has passion, heart… you can’t teach it.  She wants to win!”  She was honored as WAND’s player of the week with teammate Lainie Walters in February. Her team had a winning season, with 26-8, going to the final round of the 3A Sectionals.  The other half of the year, Emma switches over to a baseball hat and glove playing for the super successful MTZ Lady Braves.  Her team went to state last year in Class 3A softball! This girl is not just a super star on the court and field, she’s  a rockstar in the classroom too.  She’s graduating Summa Cum Laude, and is an Illinois State Scholar.  She was awarded All-Academic Appollo Conference. We are so sad we cannot see how the 2020 softball season would have played out 🙁 But Emma’s mom told me she’s keeping a positive attitude.  Her future is looking just as bright as her high school career.  She is following her brother’s footsteps and will attend the Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University.  Rumor has it she will be rooming with another one of my favorite seniors, fellow softball teammate Steph Hurm. (Look for Steph’s senior highlight on this blog soon). Oh, I just thought of another word for Emma….. Engaging!  She really connects with the camera – check out what a natural beauty she is below.  Good luck Emma! Come back and see me 🙂
