Last summer I met Jacob when he was working for a landscaping business and in 100+ degree heat. He was in my back yard chopping down a dead bush. I thought this kid has an amazing work ethic and/or must love being outdoors. A few weeks later when we met for his senior photo consultation, I realized he was the same young man and I complimented his work. Turns out that he does love the outdoors, botany and biology in particular, and really enjoyed his job. He’s also a little humble and just shrugged with a nice grin when I commented on how hard he worked in that terrible heat wave. It was only fitting that we did the majority of his senior photos outdoors in the gorgeous wooded area surrounding his home. I love his cool pick-up truck! We also wanted to incorporate his music interests that have been a big part of his high school experience. Jacob has played both the clarinet and piano. As I mentioned before he’s a little humble, and wouldn’t tell me unless I asked, but he is also an academic all-star. He was a member of NHS and an Illinois State Scholar. At the Lutheran School Association he participated in the tennis team, church council and FFA. Next year he is headed to University of Illinois for Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Sounds like a perfect fit. Good luck Jacob!
This is my last Journal post for the Class of 2019. It’s only fitting to end with Jacob because it’s time to move on to the Class of 2020 – which means it’s time to photograph his brother Henry. I am looking forward to it!!
