Luichi, Class of 2019

Luichi has lived and breathed soccer the majority of his life, and it has paid off. His club team, Mid-State Soccer Club, was the 2018 U18 Illinois State Champion Presidents Cup, and his high school team, St. Teresa, was 3rd in IHSA State finals! The 3rd place made history for St. T, and I am proud to say that Luichi was Team Captain. He has excelled in the classroom too, graduating #4 in his class at St. Teresa. He was recognized by Ameren Illinois as Rotary Scholar Athlete, is a member of NHS, a Senior Retreat KAIROS Rector 2019, and a member of Catholic Athletes in Christ with Father Steven Arismen. It’s hard to believe, but Luichi is actually going to retire his soccer cleats (well maybe Intermural sports) next year, and will attend University of Iowa. He’s the third member of his family to commit to Iowa (his brother joining him in the same class). His Mom is a proud alum and calls it her “hat trick.” The best part was how he told his mom (this tells a lot about Luichi’s kind and caring personality). He called me and asked to print a photograph of him with an Iowa sweatshirt, then on Christmas Eve he gave it to his mom as a Christmas gift. She was thrilled and text me, and I was thrilled to be a part of the happy surprise. Good luck Luichi. I know you will continue your successful path.
