A few years back, a new mom sat in my studio viewing the proofs from her newborn’s session. She began to get teary eyed, then sniffly, then bawling. Postpartum? Nope, she loved the photos. But you know what, a few viewing sessions later the same thing happened with a high school senior’s mom. I realized something really REALLY important. It was not “my” photos that made them cry; it was their absolute and beautiful love for their child that made the emotions flow. To be honest with you, I could probabily produce some not too great proofs and they would still adore the photos because they are so in love with the subject. It is without a doubt the most rewarding part of my job, and really it has nothing to do with me. To see the heartwarming, UNCONDITIONAL LOVE that ever mom feels for her children is way, way, way more beautiful than any photograph ever. We have had to whip out the kleenex multiple times over the years, but most of the time it’s for me as well as the mom. I am in awe of the basic natural instinct that all mom’s are blessed with to love their children.
I will be posting in Facebook now through Mother’s Day some of my fav photos with some awe inspiring moms. Enjoy.
