Sydney, Mt Zion HS 2017

Sydney’s senior session combined so many of her love and interests:  music, the outdoors, her sister Katie and her rescued part bassett/part sheltie–Sammy. She is passionate about friends, doing her very best and has a heart for leadership. Her high school resume is a long and impressive list of accomplishments and activities, and you wonder how she had time to fit it all in.  She was in marching band, concert band, Swingsations Combo, and Les Femmes all in one year!  Her leadership opportunities include being the Drum Major for the marching band, as well as representing MTZ HS at the HOBY leadership seminar (IL Wesleyan) and later that summer at the World Leadership Congress (at Loyola). Sydney started the Mt Zion High School’s first Key Club (a high school service club affiliated with Kiwanis International) and served as its president. She comes from a musical family and plays several instruments, adding bassoon and saxophone while in high school.  With hard work she was selected to play her bassoon at the Illinois All-State. I’m beyond excited and proud that Sydney will be attending my alma mater, DePauw University next year!!  She has a full academic scholarship  and a music scholarship to play bassoon.  She will also be studying animal science, and her life plan is to be a veterinarian.  If she keeps up this pace, I wouldn’t be suprised if she is Pres of the AVMA some day.  Good luck Sydney.  Can’t wait to see you on East College lawn.
