I think most of Sydney’s friends would say she’s very “chill,” silly, with an easy going personality. She even calls herself a “dork,” and a Wonder Woman wanna-be. I call her fun. She’s the kind of girl that is easy to spend the day with, and mixed with gorgeous sun light, we had a delightful afternoon in Decatur for her senior session. She drove over from Springfield where she attends Springfield Southeast High School. Although she’s super laid back, that would not be how you would describe her drive in the pool. Sydney has swam for her high school, the Springfield YMCA and Bearsharktopus Aquatics Swim Club, breaking lots of records in backstroke and freestyle. She made All-Conference all four years of high school. This humble girl did not tell me, but I later found out that last year she broke an 22 year old conference record to win the 100 backstroke conference title. Out of the water, Sydney is a great student with grades that earned her a spot in NHS, as well as an Illinois State Scholar. If you combine her academic and athletic talent, Sydney will find much success next year. She has signed to swim at University of Illinois at Chicago, and hopes to major in nursing. Good luck Sydney!
