Wrens Gate Garden

On a beautiful summer night we had the fun assisngment of photographying Becky and Kent Newton and sons at their GORGEOUS home and Wrens Gate Garden and Studio. The scene is beyond worthy of HGTV, and the perfect backdrop for natural family photos. Their large property is complete with a pond full of friendly fish, a vegtable garden planted by one son, a chicken coup, and a very large garden chalk full of a variety of unique seasonal flowers.  Wrens Gate is a family business that specializes in growing heirloom and uncommon flowers for the purpose of harvesting for floral arrangements and bulk flowers. Despite all the colorful surroundings, the Newton boys were the shining stars of this photography episode.  They laughed and giggled, and cheerfully gave us a tour, including their homemade checker game made from a tree stump and painted rocks, Drew’s vegtable garden, and finally a turn at feeding the fish. It’s is more than a midsummer’s night dream to imagine how special it is for these boys to grow up with all this in their backyard. While I photographed, Becky walked through the garden with her shears in tow.  She created the most beautiful soft pastle colored bouquet with unique flowers and textured foliage. In the end, she gave me the arrangement to take home!  One of the best perks of my job is the opportunity to learn more about some of the true treasures of our area.  Wrens Gate is a Central Illinois gem. So are the Newtons.
